From 4 to 7 November, 2008, the Las Vegas Convention Center was the place to be for the hottest cars, SUVs, RVs and trucks gathered under one roof. That was for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and as usually, the 2008 edition was a knock out with the custom cars, muscle cars and modified cars from some of the leading car tuners around. More than 100,000 aftermarket manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, media, car dealers, specialty equipment distributors, installers, retailers and restoration specialists from more than 100 countries attended the 2008 event.

Sadly, with all the industry big wigs that pass through there, the 'premier' of car shows, SEMA Show is not open to the public but we bring you images of the hottest cars and trucks from the 2008 SEMA Show for your pleasure ...

The inaugural Barbican Turbo Show, organized by the United Business Media was the hottest and biggest custom car festival ever to hit the UAE. It featured some of the most awesome customized and performance modified cars in the Middle East, all gathered under one roof at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in November 2008. Motor clubs displaying their members custom cars included UAE Boost, the VW Club, the Abu Dhabi Riders, SAFE (Society of Auto Owners and Filipino Expats), Pinoy, ExoClass and the Corvette UAE Club. The glittering custom cars on display ranged from well maintained classic cars to pimped-out Hummers and over-the-top street racers!

And as if that wasn't enough, the top Japanese car drifting team, Team Orange Drift, who showed off their in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, brought along two orange-striped 450 bhp Subaru Impreza GBDs in which they performed twin-drifts (tsuiou)! Pity the Barbican Turbo Show was staged on the same weekend as the Motorsports Festival at the Dubai Autodrome.

The performance potential of street cars like the Datsun 510 and the Datsun 240 Z and the iconic Nissan Skyline GT-R saw tuners attempting to eke out the last bit for horsepower from these cars. Today, modified Nissan cars are quite common at the show car events.
